The implications if google print gives in to the AAP
"Last December the comÂpany announced it would Googlize 15 million books. For works under copyright, a search would produce snippets around the search term used."
The AAP claims google infringes copyright because they make a copy to create a search index.
THe problem is that google does the same for all web content. That means if the AAP wins then this cliam can be applied to all copyright information already available on the web. Goodbye Google, Yahoo MSN search and hello local library index cards.
